Numbering a scene when adding a new scene between two existing scenes. Add a letter to your scene! If you want to insert a new scene between scenes 10 and 11, that scene should be scene 10B. If you need yet another scene after scene 10 B, that will be scene 10 C and so forth.
To add scene numbers to your entire screenplay, make sure you have no text selected, and then choose Format → Formatting Helpers → Scene Numbering. Ensure that Add Scene Numbers is selected, and then choose Go. Adding scene numbers in this way will never remove or modify existing scene numbers.
This feature is defaulted to be on. To remove the character continueds, go to Document > Mores and Continueds and uncheck the box for Automatic Character Continueds. Remember, if this is on, Final Draft will automatically enter (CONT'D) next to all characters continuing after action.
Script Format: Scene Headings Indicate a scene is stock footage with a dash and the word “STOCK” in parentheses at the end of the heading. ... A scene heading always consists of at least two elements: 1) an interior or exterior indicator, and 2) a location or setting.
US numbering Scenes are numbered 1, 2, 3 etc and each shot is numbered A, B, C. First shot in scene 6 is numbered 6A and the second shot is numbered 6B. If you need to insert a scene before scene 6, this scene will be numbered scene A6.
In Final Draft, go to Production and select Scene Numbers. Select Remove numbers from the pop up box, and click OK. Go to Production and select Scene Numbers again.
If a non-speaking character is being added, hit the plus icon, type in the name of the character and click away from the text field to commit the change. If a non-speaking character needs to be removed, highlight the character and choose the minus icon. Now you can add or remove non-speaking characters with ease!
To add scene numbers, go to “Production – Scene Numbers”. Choose the element you want to add numbering to, in this case that's “Scenes”. You have two choices of numbering available here, please check with your production department which of the two they want to use.
Final Draft Go to Document > SmartType > Characters; Select the character name you want to remove and click Delete; Click OK to close the window.
Final Draft Place the cursor at the top of the page; Go to Production menu and choose Lock A Pages; Go to Production > Locking Tools. Select Adjust Current Locked Page. Click OK at the warning; You will probably see two choices of the same page number. Select the second one and click OK.
