If you want to remove all double quotes, simply select the entire worksheet, then go to the Editing group of the Home tab and click the Find and select drop down. Click on Replace (or hit CTRL + h). In the “Find what” field of the Dialog box type in a double quote.
Avoiding formatting change on CSV on Microsoft 365 or Excel 2019 is fairly easy. Activate the Insert tab in the Ribbon. Click From Text/CSV in the Get & Transform Data section. Select your file. You will see the preview of your data. Either click Load to import the data.
csv files have a limit of 32,767 characters per cell. Excel has a limit of 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns per sheet. CSV files can hold many more rows. You can read more about these limits and others from this Microsoft support article here.
You need to specify text qualifiers. Generally a double quote (") is used as text qualifiers. All the text is always put inside it and all the commas inside a text qualifier is ignored. This is a standard method for all CSV, languages and all platforms for properly handling the text.
Replace a Question Mark Similarly, replacing a question mark must be done the same way; the question mark is also a wildcard. Once again, put a tilde in front of the question mark before you click Replace or Replace All. Clicking Replace All will then only replace the question marks and not the rest of the text.
Open an CSV file using the Text Import Wizard Make sure the data type is set to Delimited. Click Next. Set the delimiter to Comma (only), and deselect Tab. Click Next. For each column, set the data format to Text, instead of General. To do this quickly, you can select all the columns at once.
CSV files use double-quote marks to delimit field values that have spaces, so a value like Santa Claus gets saved as “Santa Claus” to preserve the space. If a field value contains double-quotes, then the double-quotes get doubled-up so the parser can tell the difference.
In CSV files, quotation marks function as text qualifiers. This means that they define what text should be stored as a single value versus what distinct values that should be separated out.
Using the "From Text" feature in Excel Click the Data tab, then From Text. Select the CSV file that has the data clustered into one column. Select Delimited, then make sure the File Origin is Unicode UTF-8. Select Comma (this is Affinity's default list separator).
By default, the escape character is a " (double quote) for CSV-formatted files. If you want to use a different escape character, use the ESCAPE clause of COPY , CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE or gpload to declare a different escape character.
