HIPAA-compliant de-identification of protected health information is possible using two methods: Safe Harbor and Expert Determination.
To be considered de-identified, ALL of the 18 HIPAA Identifiers must be removed from the data set. This includes all dates, such as surgery dates, all voice recordings, and all photographic images.
In the Family Module, double-click in the Patient Info area. Alternatively: In the Chart Module, double-click in the Patient Info area. In the Select Patient window, click Add Pt to create a new patient account.
In the Medical window, select the Family History tab. Alternatively, in the EHR Dashboard click Enter family history, and click the Family Health History tab. This tab is only visible if EHR is turned on in Show Features. Click Add Family History, or double-click an entry to edit.

If your computer can be seen by patients, consider creating a HIPAA View for your schedule. This will hide identifying patient information. Go to Setup Appointments Appointment Views. Create a view, then only add the necessary information.
How can I delete it? Users created in Open Dental cannot be deleted, but can be hidden. Simply double-click to open the user, then check Is Hidden to hide this user.
