Why is formula displayed as text?

Cause. When you link cells in Microsoft Excel, the format of the original cell is applied to the linked cell. Therefore, if you enter a formula that links one cell to a cell formatted as text, the cell with the formula is also formatted as text.

How do I get out of formula mode?

If you still dont know what to do from there and want to start over, you can press ESC again, or select the Cancel button in the formula bar, which will take you out of edit mode.

How do I remove formulas and keep data in sheets?

Heres what you can do: Highlight all cells you need to modify. Take all formulas to the clipboard by pressing Ctrl+C on your keyboard. Then press Ctrl+Shift+V to paste back the values only: Tip. Ctrl+Shift+V is the Google Sheets shortcut for Paste values only (right-click a cell Paste special Paste values only).

How to prevent a formula from displaying in the formula bar Google Sheets?

Say you have a formula in cell B6 and want to hide it. In Google Sheets, you cant hide this formula the same way you can in Excel; but what you can do is hide the whole formula bar. In the Menu, go to View Formula bar to disable this option. Now, the formula bar is hidden, and you wont be able to see the formula.

You can copy a range with formulas or copy the whole sheet and then paste them as values to remove all formulas. Select the range with formulas, or select the whole sheet by clicking the button.
