I often get asked what the green flag means in Excel the green flag is basically an error checking if you click a cell that has the green flag youll notice you have a smart tag if you hover over it it tells you why its flagging that cell in this case its a number thats being seen as text so if you look in the formula bar here there is an apostrophe its probably to keep the leading zeros okay but what if we dont need to keep the leading zeros what if we just want to convert all of these back to numbers Im gonna just highlight a sample here because I have about 25,000 rows if I wanted to go all the way to the end of the range I could simply click the first and the range do shift control and down arrow to get all the way down but for this Ill just grab a couple at the very top Im gonna hit the smart tag Im gonna choose convert to number and then everything is converted to number
