LUT is an acronym for the letter of undertaking used while exporting goods. The article covers this in detail. The facility to furnish a LUT for FY 2021-22 is available on the GST portal. The date of expiry of the validity of LUT is 31st March 2021.
Any registered taxpayer exporting goods or services can make use of LUTs. However, any person who has been prosecuted for tax evasion for an amount of Rs. 2.5 Crores or above under the act is not eligible to furnish LUTs. The validity of such LUTs is for a period of one year (till the end of financial year).
Letter of Undertaking is a document that exporters can file to export goods or services without having to pay taxes.
How do I check my LUT status? Access the GST Portal at .gst.gov.in URL. Login to the GST Portal with valid credentials. Click the Services User Services View My Submitted LUTs command.
