For rental periods of less than one month, the day following the expiration of the period beginning on the day on which notice is given and extending for a number of days equal to the number of days in the rent-paying period.
California law allows landlord to change the terms of a month to month tenancy with proper notice. However, changing is not always as simple as just sending a notice.
Verbal rental agreements are legal in Washington State and are considered to be month-to-month tenancies. If your landlord takes any kind of deposit or nonrefundable fee from you, the rental agreement must be in writing and state the terms and conditions under which your money is refundable.
Any rental agreement of whatever duration shall be automatically renewed for the term of the original rental agreement, unless a different specified term is agreed upon.
State law requires that the landlord provide at least twenty-four (24) hours notice, and only enter at reasonable times unless expressly consented to by the tenant.
