About Us. The Military Provost Guard Service (MPGS) provides professional soldiers to meet armed security requirements at Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and other Ministry of Defence bases in Great Britain. Our primary role is to counter the terrorist threat posed to military bases in Great Britain.
Leave is an earned benefit not a privilege. Therefore the only person that can revoke your leave status and return you to duty is the commander granting the leave. Your leader can request your leave be cancelled.
Leave of Absence for Military Duty means military leave, annual leave, accrued compensatory time, LWOP, or any combination of these, depending on the circumstances and nature of the military duty. Reservists and members of the National Guards are entitled to LWOP, if necessary, to perform military training duties.
These requirements may also impact the scheduling of annual leave. Annual Leave: Active duty Soldiers earn 2.5 days of annual (chargeable) leave for each month of service, for a total of 30 days per year. Currently, Soldiers can bank up to 60 days of leave at the end of the fiscal year.
Regular military leave is any paid leave taken for personal reasons, including vacations, family care, errands or any other purpose. Regular leave is used on workdays and also any time the service member is leaving the vicinity of their duty station, as defined by their command, on a weekend or holiday.
The MPGS Team As Regular soldiers, MPGS personnel are subject to Service Law and are entitled to most benefits, such as accommodation, annual leave, medical/dental, etc as their Regular colleagues. Like their counterparts in the rest of the Regular Army, MPGS soldiers are promoted on merit using the SJAR system.

Armed Forces Personnel and MPGS are awarded 38 days annual leave (319 hours per annum). MPGS are permanent 12 hour shift workers and work the standard 184 shifts per annum (4 on 4 off). One days annual leave per MPGS equates to one 12 hour shift off.
