On the Analyze tab, in the Calculations group, click Fields, Items, Sets, and then click Calculated Field. In the Name box, type a name for the field. In the Formula box, enter the formula for the field. To use the data from another field in the formula, click the field in the Fields box, and then click Insert Field.
In an Excel pivot table, calculated fields and calculated items are custom formulas. There are a few general restrictions on using pivot table formulas: Formulas are available only in non-OLAP-based pivot tables. You cant create formulas that refer to the pivot table totals or subtotals.
Remove the calculated field from a pivot table. Click any cell inside the pivot table. Go to Analyze Calculations Fields, Items Sets Calculated Field. Select the field name you want to remove and click Delete.
In the PivotTable, right-click the value field, and then click Show Values As. Note: In Excel for Mac, the Show Values As menu doesnt list all the same options as Excel for Windows, but they are available. Select More Options on the menu if you dont see the choice you want listed.
Why is Calculated Item grayed out or turned off sometimes? It matters what field or cell you have selected on the Pivot Table as it impacts turning On or Off of the Calculated Item feature. If you have selected a Values cell, then Calculated Field will be available but Calculated Item will be greyed out.
