I want to totally delete my inventory, including all items within and start again. how do i do that? Click the Gear icon. Select Products and Services. Mark the items youd like to remove. Click the Batch actions drop-down. Choose Make inactive. Click Yes to complete the action.
Under Your Company section, select Chart of Accounts (COA). Look for the account that you want to delete. In the Action column, choose the drop-down then click Delete. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete.
Inventory is almost always an asset, and businesses typically consider inventory to be a current asset. Inventory that your organization records as current assets include those products and materials that staff sells or uses within a year of the products manufacture or supplies purchase.
When you buy an inventory item, your Bill, Check or Credit Card Charge will debit the Items Inventory Asset account and credit your A/P, bank or credit card account. It is not debited to an expense account because it is an asset that you can sell for future benefit and you record the expense to match the income.
Go to Lists, and select Item List (for Windows) or Items (for Mac). Select the item you want to delete. Go to Edit, and select Delete Item.
Important: Certain accounts in QuickBooks cant be deleted because they are default accounts. Some accounts require extra steps before you can make them inactive: If products or services use the account, change the account theyre linked to. Or you can make products and services that use the account inactive.
Accounts that cant be deactivated Opening Balance Equity: This is the default account for adjustments. You can only edit the name of this account, if necessary. Retained Earnings: This account reports the net income of your company on the Balance Sheet report.
Heres how. Select Vendors and then Inventory Activities. Select Inventory and then select Adjust Quantity/Value on Hand. Select the Adjustment Type ▼ dropdown, then select Quantity, Total Value, or Quantity and Total Value. Enter the Adjustment Date.
Go to the Lists menu, then select Chart of Accounts. Select the account you want to delete. Go to the Edit menu, then select Delete Account.
