No, you cannot delete or personally edit letters of recommendation after your AMCAS application has been submitted. However, your recommenders may upload a new version of a letter theyve already submitted, so long as they use the same Letter ID number that was assigned to the original letter.
You can indeed use past letters of recommendation as a reapplicant. However, you may want to consider removing certain letters, adding new ones, or updating existing ones.
The only reason to retract would be if the new circumstances, unknown to you at the time of writing would have come to light. Cheating is the good example.
Letters do not have to be assigned to the letter entries in your AMCAS application before you can submit, although you have the option to add this information before submitting. Please note that after you submit your application, you can add letter entries, but you cannot delete or change existing letter entries.
Also, some medical schools mandate expiration dates on their letters; they may require that no LORs be older than a year. At the bottom of this web page, you can find a list of medical schools. Click on the institutions name and youll see its LOR requirements.
Letters of evaluation (although please note that you can only make additions of up to 10 letters, and you must notify AMCAS if you have a letter you wish to no longer be sent to medical schools; you cannot delete letters of evaluation from your application).
Letters do not have to be assigned to the letter entries in your AMCAS application before you can submit, although you have the option to add this information before submitting. Please note that after you submit your application, you can add letter entries, but you cannot delete or change existing letter entries.
Once your personal statement is submitted to AMCAS it cannot be corrected, altered or amended. This is why it is very important to read over it multiple times, have another person read it in the application itself and do everything possible to ensure your best work is presented.
The initial $160 application fee is non-refundable, but you will receive back your payment for each school whose deadline has not passed if you withdraw your application. Please note: Once you withdraw your application, you can no longer apply for the current application year. Think carefully before you do this.
End with a clear summary statement. I would recruit this student for my program. I give this student my highest recommendation. In my last ten years, this was one of the top 5% of students with whom I have worked.
