Did you know? If you are ready to file your income tax and benefit return but have misplaced your NETFILE access code, you can visit the Canada Revenue Agencys (CRA) Web site, enter your information, and receive your access code instantly!
The CRA has locked these accounts as a precautionary measure after it learned that some CRA My Account user IDs and passwords may have been obtained by unauthorized third parties through external sources (such as email phishing scams). This is not due to a bdocHub of the CRAs online systems.
Note: Before you can register using option 1 or 2, you must have filed your income tax and benefit return for the current tax year or the previous one.
Heres what you can do if your account is locked: Use a different login method to sign into your My Account you can use a different CRA user ID and password (if you had one set up), your banking login, or your BC Services card.
If you are not able to change your access code by using GST/HST Access Code Online, call us at 1-800-959-5525 and we will change it for you. If you are calling from outside Canada and the United States, call us collect at 613-940-8497.
Step 1 Provide personal information Enter your social insurance number. Enter your date of birth. Enter your current postal code or ZIP code. Enter an amount you entered on one of your income tax and benefit returns. Create a CRA user ID and password. Create your security questions and answers.
What do I do to get my CRA Account Unlocked? If your account is now locked from too many attempts to use your password and or user ID, the first recommendation by the CRA is to call them at 1-800-959-8281.
NETFILE Access Code Your eight-character Access code is made up of numbers and letters and is located on the right side of your Notice of Assessment for a previous tax year.
If you tried to enter your CRA security code after the expiry date shown on your letter, you will get an error message. Contact us to have a new CRA security code issued to you.
If you would prefer to receive the CRA security code letter and other personal correspondence from the CRA in an alternate format, call 1-800-959-8281 for more information.
