Supported characters for a file name are letters, numbers, spaces, and ( ) - , . *Please note file names should be limited to 100 characters. Characters that are NOT supported include, but are not limited to: @ $ % \ / : * ? | ~ ` # ^ + = { } [ ] ; !
Options in this section restrict the characters allowed in file and folder names. Default is No restrictions except for the following: Not allowed in file names: front slash ( / ) back slash ( \ ) Not allowed in folder names: front slash ( / ), back slash ( \ ), quotes ( ), pipe symbol ( | )
Do not end a file or directory name with a space or a period. Although the underlying file system may support such names, the Windows shell and user interface does not. However, it is acceptable to specify a period as the first character of a name.
(Backslash): In Windows operating systems, the backslash is used as a directory separator in file paths. Similar to the forward slash, it is used to separate directories within the path. For example, C:\Users\Username\Documents represents the Documents directory inside the Username directory on the C drive.
Characters that are valid for naming files, folders, or shortcuts include any combination of letters (A-Z) and numbers (0-9), plus the following special characters: ^ Accent circumflex (caret) Ampersand. Apostrophe (single quotation mark)
For example, on Windows-based desktop platforms, invalid path characters might include ASCII/Unicode characters 1 through 31, as well as quote (), less than (), pipe (|), backspace (\b), null (\0) and tab (\t).
Dont start or end your filename with a space, period, hyphen, or underline. Keep your filenames to a reasonable length and be sure they are under 31 characters. Most operating systems are case sensitive; always use lowercase.
Right-click the file, folder, or link that you want to highlight, and then select Pin to top.
