Navigate to the folder you want to search. Then in the upper right corner of the window, click on the Search Bar and type the string: content: your phrase/text/content. Window 11 will recognize this as a specific instruction, and the text color will change to light blue. You will get files matching your text.
Tap or click to open File Explorer. Search looks in all folders and subfolders within the library or folder youre viewing. When you tap or click inside the search box, the Search Tools tab appears. As you enter your search terms, your results will start to appear with your search terms highlighted.
The temporary file that is created when Word performs an automatic save is stored in the Temp folder, unless there is not a valid Temp folder. In this case, Word saves the temporary file in the same folder where it saves the document.
If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, check the following folder locations for backup files: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word.
View previous versions of Office files Open the file you want to view. Click the title of your file and select Version history. Select a version to open it in a separate window. If you want to restore a previous version youve opened, select Restore.
Search from the taskbar: Type the name of a document (or a keyword from it) into the search box on the taskbar. Youll see results for documents across your PC and OneDrive.
If you already have Office, you can find your Office apps in Windows 10 by typing the app name in the search box on the taskbar. For example, type word in the search box on the taskbar and then select it from the list of results.
There are several ways to find a saved Word document. Use the Search box: Check the Recent Documents list: Check the default save location: Use File Explorer: Use the AutoRecover feature: If you still cant find the document, you can try using a data recovery program to scan your hard drive for deleted files.
