I want to look at formatting zip codes and Google sheets when you have a zip code that begins with a digit other than zero all five digits display fine but when you have a zip code that starts with a zero and you enter in a Google sheet once you leave the cell the zero will not display that leading zero so you can use custom number formats to force it display first select the cells you want to format this way and from the format menu choose number more formats and then custom number format at the very bottom there and up in the custody custom number format box you want to enter five zeros and this is going to force these cells to display all five digits you enter choose apply and then youll see that thats the code I had previously entered now shows the zero so this is a great trick for forcing a specific format on your cells again format number more formats custom number format
