UCOs Course Repeat Policy allows students who have retaken a course and have the lowest grade excluded from their Graduation/Retention GPA. Undergraduate students are limited to three attempts in the identical course to improve their grade.
A student may repeat up to four courses, not to exceed 18 hours. For the full Academic Forgiveness Policy see the General Catalog.
A student may, however, repeat a course in order to demonstrate his or her ability to achieve a better grade. This second grade will be reflected on the students transcript, but no credit will be awarded for the repeated course, and it will not be averaged into the students cumulative average.
Retaking a course can have a docHub impact on a students GPA. If a student received a poor grade in a course, retaking the class and receiving a higher grade can improve their overall GPA. However, if a school averages the grades, the impact on the GPA might not be as docHub.
Academic Forgiveness Policy (Repeat Policy) A student may repeat up to four courses, not to exceed 18 hours, in which the original grade was D or F. While both attempts will be visible on the transcript, only the second attempt will count in the calculation of the students overall GPA.
Repeating Coursework A course may be repeated only once. Although only the second grade earned (for better or worse) will be computed into your GPA, both grades will remain on your transcript.
The advisor can go over your options if you fail or pass the class. At most schools, for example, students with a failing grade can retake the same class to replace the grade on their transcript.
F means failure. No credit hours or grade points are awarded for an F, but the credit hours are calculated into the cumulative grade point average.
