Students who graduate with a Cumulative GPA* of 3.20 to 3.49 are described as graduates With Distinction. This achievement is noted on the diploma and transcript.
A course with a grade of 50% - 59% can be retaken once, provided that it has not been used to satisfy a prerequisite requirement for an upper-level course. In order to retake a course within this grade range, students must request permission to register by contacting the Undergraduate Student Office, ARTS 265.
Generally, at the school level percentages of 7585 are considered average while above 95 is exceptional. At the university level however percentages between 6079 are considered excellent and are difficult to obtain.
The course must be repeated at UH within twelve months of earning the original grade. The original course and grade will continue to appear on the students transcript with a notation that the course was repeated and that the original grade was not included in the computation of the students cumulative GPA.
Croskey notes that dropping a class is better than withdrawing, but withdrawing is better than failing. A failing grade will lower the students GPA, which may prevent a student from participating in a particular major that has a GPA requirement, Croskey says.
The course must be repeated at UH within twelve months of earning the original grade. The original course and grade will continue to appear on the students transcript with a notation that the course was repeated and that the original grade was not included in the computation of the students cumulative GPA.
Typically, only the grade earned from the first taking of a course is counted in the GPA. Grades from subsequent retakings of a course are excluded from the GPA calculation.
Until the Official Reporting Day (ORD), courses can be dropped online at myUH. Students who drop by the ORD will receive 100 percent refund for dropping course (s) while maintaining enrollment. See the Costs Financial Aid site and the Student Business Services (Bursar) site for more refund information.
At most schools, for example, students with a failing grade can retake the same class to replace the grade on their transcript.
Students may not enroll in a course and receive a grade (including W) more than three times, except in those courses identified in the Catalog as repeatable. The only courses a student may repeat with a Credit/No Credit option are those in which the student previously received a grade of NC (No Credit).
