this video Ill be sharing with you some tips and different methods to remove your caulking theres two methods that often use I hope generally approve up for myself so here we have just a flathead screwdriver and a chisel a lot of times what happens is guys dont have the proper tools and theyre using their screwdriver to remove the caulking times youll see guys using a chisel as well so remove the caulking I dont particularly like using a screwdriver or chisel is because the chances of you slipping and cutting yourself are much more higher we have a scraper here I have my multi-tool battery-operated it doesnt matter which brand and as youre able to purchase a scraper bit right here and put it on your multi-tool that should suffice this method is beneficial if youre trying to minimize any extra effort and exerting your energy this works well also when youre dealing with the cheap or what I like to call the hard plaster caulking this is nice and soft so I can kind of bend it but

It is fine to put another layer of silicone over an existing bead. The main consideration to remember is if the old bead is not fully cured you do not want to break the skin it has formed. Sometimes it is best to wait 2-3 days before putting any new product on so the old one has enough time to dry.
Never apply new silicone sealant over old sealant as, in most cases, the old sealant would have fallen away or split meaning that, no matter how much new sealant you apply, the leak will persist. Not to mention, applying a new sealant over old will look incredibly messy and unappealing.

You know between kind of digging out and if you see a spot maybe that the knife didnt get the caulking you can then take that knife again.
Can I apply new silicone atop, or alongside old silicone caulk? It is recommended that any old silicone is removed. While new, freshly applied silicone can be applied will bond to old silicone the bond isnt as strong as if it were applied to a clean surface.
You can use a utility knife or putty knife, slicing through the caulk and peeling it away. For multiple layers of caulk, needle-nosed pliers might work best. There are also specialized caulk removal tools designed to tear away caulk cleanly.
Never caulk over damaged or moldy caulk. Damaged, cracked, and worn caulk wont provide a firm surface for the top layer of caulk, often leading to cracks and damage in new caulk. Remove the old layer before properly sealing the gap. Similarly, moldy caulk doesnt just go away because you cover the mold with new caulk.
Before applying new caulk around your bathtub, shower, or sink, you must first remove the old caulk. New caulk doesnt stick to old caulk, so if you fail to remove the old stuff, the new caulk cant form a watertight seal, leaving the potential for moisture to seep into areas where you dont want it.
