hi everybody this is rj from aura 600 today i will talk about how to correctly sized a online log files in oracle database every DBA has his own opinion as to what should be the optimal size of the data log files some use guesswork based on the workload in their environment and other use certain rules like the raid lock should switch it four to five times every are using certain rules and formulas to size or it lock files is fine but itamp;#39;s confusing and somewhat unreliable instead we can use the recommendations from dreadlock advisor which the oracle database already has the first peter cuz it is that the faster to empty a target should be set in the database as for the Oracle documentation it can be set to 300 in the beginning and then after taking the commendations from empty date advisor a final value can be decided Iamp;#39;ll talk more about the entity advisor in another video if the entity a values too low then there will be pasture incrementally pointing in the database

Redo is the information Oracle records in online (and archived) redo log files in order to replay your transaction in the event of a failure. Undo is the information Oracle records in the undo segments in order to reverse, or roll back, your transaction.
A redo record, also called a redo entry, holds a group of change vectors, each of which describes or represents a change made to a single block in the database.
UNDO is used to rollback transactions. REDO records changes to the original data, and is important for transactions that are not committed at the time of a crash or failure. REDO is used to roll forward transactions.
To create new redo log groups and members, you must have the ALTER DATABASE system privilege. A database can have up to MAXLOGFILES groups. To create a new group of redo log files, use the SQL statement ALTER DATABASE with the ADD LOGFILE clause.
Redo log files are operating system files used by Oracle to maintain logs of all transactions performed against the database. The primary purpose of these log files is to allow Oracle to recover changes made to the database in the case of a failure.
A redo log file might become corrupted while the database is open, and ultimately stop database activity because archiving cannot continue. You can set FORCE LOGGING and NOLOGGING at various levels, such as for a database, pluggable database (PDB), tablespace, or database object.
Redo log is a physical log, which is a physical record after the data page is modified. Binlog is a logical log, which can be simply considered as a record of SQL statements.
Archive logs are archived redo(online) log files. In redo log files are all changes that happened to your data. If your database is in archivelog mode, than redo logs cant be overwritten, they are archived in some other location when they are full. Redo and archive logs are used in various database recovery scenarios.
