welcome back to dp tutorials in this video let us learn how to convert text to numbers in excel sometimes you might have noticed that when we download data from some software we get the exported excel with the numbers in text format it is a simple trick to identify the number if it is stored as text by just looking at its alignment as a general rule the text field will be aligned to the left side of cell like you can see in columns c and d similarly if you see columns f g you can see that the fields are aligned to right which means that they are in number format so whenever you face this problem like this in column e or i some of the number fields are aligned properly to the right which is correct but some fields are aligned to left so here excel has mistakenly stored the numbers as text observe this number 14 in cell e10 let us select the entire column e and change the format to general you can you can see that some numbers got converted to number format including the number 1
