In order to obtain final standing in a course, a student must receive at least a passing grade (50%)/P/CR in that course.
If you failed a course then you can retake it for credit. The failed grade will not be removed or averaged; rather both the failed grade and the new grade are calculated into the GPA and included on your academic transcript.
Some schools may not allow a student to retake a course, some may only allow a student to retake a course in which they have received an F, and some schools may allow a student to retake any course to improve the grade. The best thing would be for your student to discuss the option with their academic advisor.
Under the revised policy, when a student repeats a course (or takes an equivalent or mutually exclusive course), all attempts will be used in the calculation of the TGPA and CGPA. Whether these grades are used toward the DGPA will be subject to Faculty policy.
Degree students can use the Second Attempt for Credit (SAC) option for up to a maximum of 1.0 repeated credits.
Students requesting to repeat a course must do so at their College Registrars Office, where they will receive appropriate advising and will be enrolled in the course, provided there is space available, only after other degree students have had an opportunity to enrol.
Generally, Grade D+ is the minimum passing grade.
Students who wish to repeat a course under these circumstances should obtain appropriate advising in the Office of the Registrar prior to submitting their request. Eligible students may enrol provided there is space available and only after other degree students have had an opportunity to enrol.
Include a statement about currently pursuing or intending to pursue a full course of study. Include your career and educational plan and goals. Include a statement attesting that you have not been engaged in any unauthorized employment. Include a statement that you truly regret your error and ask for reinstatement.
If the course(s) failed is/are an elective course, the student can choose to redo the same course or another possible elective (to make up the required credits) at the next time of its offering. This can delay graduation if the selected course is only offered in the following academic year.
