To restore an AMI (AWS CLI) Use the create-restore-image-task command. Using the values for S3ObjectKey and Bucket from the describe-store-image-tasks output, specify the object key of the AMI and the name of the S3 bucket to which the AMI was copied. Also specify a name for the restored AMI.
It isnt possible to restore or recover a deleted or deregistered AMI. However, you can create a new, identical AMI using one of the following: Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) snapshots that were created as backups. Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances that were launched from the deleted AMI.
On the Amazon EC2 console, on the Elastic Block Store menu, choose Snapshots. Search for the snapshot that you want to restore, and select it. Choose Actions, and then choose Create Volume. Create the new volume in the same Availability Zone as your EC2 instance.
Update AMI Navigate to AWS Console Services EC2 Auto Scaling Launch Configurations. Select a LC Copy launch configuration. Click Edit AMI. Click Create launch configuration.
Create An AMI From The EBS Snapshot. Create Image from the EBS Snapshot. Select a Name and Description and dont forget to select Hardware-assisted Virtualization. Launch The Created AMI. Create on Launch and redo all the steps done while creating EC2 Instance. Your EC2 Instance is restored.
In the navigation pane, choose Snapshots. Select a snapshot to delete (look for the AMI ID from the prior step in the Description column). Choose Actions, Delete.
To restore a deleted snapshot from the Recycle Bin using the AWS CLI. Use the restore-snapshot-from-recycle-bin AWS CLI command. For --snapshot-id , specify the ID of the snapshot to restore. For example, the following command restores snapshot snap-01234567890abcdef from the Recycle Bin.
To restore a virtual machine to VMware, VMware Cloud on AWS, and VMware Cloud on AWS Outposts: In the Hypervisors or Virtual machines views, choose the VM name to restore. Choose the radial button next to the Recovery point ID to restore. Choose Restore. Choose the Restore type. Choose the Restore location.
