foreign and welcome back in this session we are going to understand the concept of overflow so without any further Ado letamp;#39;s get to learning coming to the outcome of todayamp;#39;s session today we will at first acquire the understanding of overflow thereafter we will learn how to recognize overflow now overflow is a condition which indicates that some operations have been performed on some data and afterwards the computer is unable to accommodate the result in the predefined storage space which was specified for it let me illustrate now we already know with four bits and twoamp;#39;s complement form if we place one in the MSB space and in the remaining places if we keep on placing zeros we end up acquiring the value minus eight basically this is the pattern using which induced complement representation we can represent the magnitude minus 8. now think about a situation suppose we would like to add two negative eights now in this Edition these three places will remain zeros n

Boolean Bit Flags Instead of treating a byte as a number from 0 to 255 , a byte can be thought of as 8 separate boolean (true/false) values or bits, where 1 is true and 0 is false . Using them this way, these boolean values are called boolean bit flags.
How to decode bit flags Define a mask having the same size in bytes than the value to decode ( lets call it v ) and set the bits to extract to 1 and the others to 0. Apply a logical AND operation between it and v. Then shift the result right n times where n is the index ( starting from 0 ) of the first docHub bit.
Short Answer You want to do an Bitwise AND operation on the current value with a Bitwise NOT operation of the flag you want to unset. A Bitwise NOT inverts every bit (i.e. 0 = 1, 1 = 0). flags = flags ~MASK; or flags = ~MASK; . When you perform a Bitwise AND with Bitwise NOT of the value you want unset.
Using Bit Flags Project:This information applies to InstallScript projects. To set bit flags in a variable, use the bitwise OR operator (|). To test a variable for a bit flag, use the bitwise AND operator () and the bit flag constant to zero all the bits other than the bit for which you are testing.
Declare a variable that will hold the bit flags. As needed, set particular bits (i.e., make the bits 1) using the | operator, clear particular bits (i.e., make the bits 0) using the operator, and/or toggle particular bits (i.e., switch the bits to their other value) using the ^ operator.
The flow of a program is often controlled using one or more flags, which are binary values (i.e., yes/no, on/off, true/false) that indicate the current or desired state of the system.
Bit flags are a programming technique to represent multiple boolean values or multiple states into a single integer. The amount of different states you can store inside of one integer depends on its memory size e.g. a 32 bit integer could hold 32 different states at once, one bit to represent each state.
