The IRS also requires you to obtain a new EIN number if you form: A new (separate from your current) LLC with more than one owner (Multi-member LLC) is formed under state law.
If you made a mistake on your EIN application, such as if you listed a non-owner or officer in Item 3 or elsewhere, do not submit a new EIN application, Form SS-4. Instead, submit a letter to the IRS, preferably on your company letterhead.
Use Form 8822-B to report changes to your responsible party, address or location. Changes in responsible parties must be reported to the IRS within 60 days.
If you have lost your EIN Verification Letter from the Department of Treasury, you can request a new one. To do so, call the IRS Business Specialty Tax Line toll free at 1-800-829-4933 between the hours of 7am and 7pm in your local time zone.
The IRS cannot cancel your EIN. Once an EIN has been assigned to a business entity, it becomes the permanent Federal taxpayer identification number for that entity.
