sometimes the redo log size of an oracle database could be too small due to wrong initial setup or growing transaction rate afterwards and now itamp;#39;s necessary to increase the redo log size suppose we have four groups with each 200 megabytes here and we want to increase them up to two gigabytes each to achieve this we can create two extra transitional redo log groups temporarily drop and recreate the original redo log groups and then discard the transitional redo log groups okay letamp;#39;s get our hands dirty first we connect to the database and check around the redo log groups files and path etc we notice the log file size is 200 megabytes and there are four groups and path is like this then we append two extra redo log groups of 5 and 6 each with 2gb size to sing or proper path now we can see we have created two extra transitional redo log groups however we notice the current redo log group is among the original groups we have to shift the current group over to the extra tra

The principle differences between undo and redo logging are: 1. Undo logging cancels the effects of incomplete transactions and ignores committed ones; redo logging ignores incomplete transactions and redoes committed ones as necessary. 2.
In the Oracle RDBMS environment, redo logs comprise files in a proprietary format which log a history of all changes made to the database. Each redo log file consists of redo records.
Whenever something changes in a datafile, Oracle records the change in the redo log. The name redo log indicates its purpose: If the database crashes, the RDBMS can redo (re-process) all changes on datafiles which will take the database data back to the state it was when the last redo record was written.
The redo log files in SAP HANA are used for database recovery and are managed by the system. You can monitor the status and manage the redo log backups using SAP HANA Studio or SQL commands, but there is no tool provided by SAP HANA for inspecting the content of these files.
The most crucial structure for recovery operations is the redo log, which consists of two or more preallocated files that store all changes made to the database as they occur. Every instance of an Oracle Database has an associated redo log to protect the database in case of an instance failure.
To create new redo log groups and members, you must have the ALTER DATABASE system privilege. A database can have up to MAXLOGFILES groups. To create a new group of redo log files, use the SQL statement ALTER DATABASE with the ADD LOGFILE clause.
Archive logs are archived redo(online) log files. In redo log files are all changes that happened to your data. If your database is in archivelog mode, than redo logs cant be overwritten, they are archived in some other location when they are full. Redo and archive logs are used in various database recovery scenarios.
