As you work on complex spreadsheets in Excel, you may find yourself making changes, undoing them, and sometimes needing to re-apply your actions again. The Redo function is a handy feature that allows you to reverse the effects of an undo and restore your spreadsheet to a specific point in time.
The Redo command reverses the most recent change made using Undo. To undo an action, on the Edit menu, click Undo, or press Ctrl + Z. To redo an action, on the Edit menu, click Redo, or press Ctrl +Y.
To redo something youve undone, press Ctrl+Y or F4. (If F4 doesnt seem to work, you may need to press the F-Lock key or Fn Key, then F4) on your keyboard, or select Redo on the Quick Access toolbar. (The Redo button only appears after youve undone an action.)
All other shortcuts Turn Caps Lock on or offSearch + Alt (or) Launcher + Alt Delete the previous word Ctrl + Backspace Delete the next letter (forward delete) Alt + Backspace Undo your last action Ctrl + z Redo your last action Shift + Ctrl + z23 more rows
To reverse your last Undo, press CTRL+Y. You can reverse more than one action that has been undone. You can use Redo command only after Undo command. To perform a function on all the content in the text editor, you need to select it all.
Undo allows you to take back data entry changes by storing a collection of data maintenance actions. Redo lets you restore the change that was undone. Under certain circumstances, for example, when you change to a different client, the collection of actions ends and you can no longer use undo or redo.
The Quick Access toolbar is a customizable toolbar that provides convenient access to commonly used commands. By default, the Undo button resembles a curved arrow pointing to the left, while the Redo button resembles a curved arrow pointing to the right.
Use the shortcut: Ctrl+Z undoes your last action type, format, or delete. Keep an eye on the Undo button: at the top left of the window, it has a drop-down list of recent actions to undo. Use the Redo feature: to bring back undone actions, press Ctrl+Y or click on the Redo button.
