Change separator when saving Excel file as CSV To force it to use a different delimiter, proceed with the following steps: Click File Options Advanced. Under Editing options, clear the Use system separators check box. Change the default Decimal separator.
Since a CSV file is a text file separated by commas, you can use any simple text editor to do a search-and-replace to replace the comas with semicolons. The only problem is programs usually cant read semicolon-seperated-values, generally the other most common separator is a return or line-feed character.
Use commas for separators The CSV file format allows you to pick any character as separator. Regardless, stick with the actual comma character ( , ) for separator, as most applications will be compatible with it out of the box.
Right-click the file and select Open With Numbers. In the Import Settings dialog, choose your delimiter, then click Update Table.
Select the lines you want to convert, or simply press Ctrl+A to select all lines. Open the File menu and choose Save Selected Items, or simply press Ctrl+S. From the Save as type combo-box select Tab Delimited Text File and ,type/choose the filename to save, and then press the Save button.
set row=! row:=! is designed to remove quotes from row . Youd need to add another line set row=! row:,=! to remove the commas.
How to change the field separator (delimiter) in Excel when saving as a CSV file In Microsoft Windows, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel. Open the dialog box for changing Regional and Language settings. In the dialog box, look for the List separator setting. Enter the desired list separator.
Converting Comma-Separated File in Excel Navigate to the file on your local system and open it in Excel. Navigate to the Data tab and click Text to Columns. In the converter wizard screen step 1, choose Delimited and click Next. In the converter wizard screen step 2, select Comma and click Next.
