You can disable automatic archiving of filled redo log files by setting the LOGARCHIVESTART initialization parameter to FALSE. Specify LOGARCHIVESTART=FALSE in the initialization parameter file and restart your instance.
What Is the Redo Log? The most crucial structure for recovery operations is the redo log, which consists of two or more preallocated files that store all changes made to the database as they occur. Every instance of an Oracle Database has an associated redo log to protect the database in case of an instance failure.
Ensure your redo log group is INACTIVE by querying V$LOG. If ACTIVE, switch the log (ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE) and wait until the status is INACTIVE. Next, drop the online redo log (with the ALTER DATABASE DROP LOGFILE GROUP x) command.
Disabling Redo Logging You can disable redo logging using the ALTER INSTANCE DISABLE INNODB REDOLOG statement. This functionality is intended for loading data into a new MySQL instance. Disabling redo logging speeds up data loading by avoiding redo log writes and doublewrite buffering.
The SID clause lets you specify the SID of the instance where the value will take effect. Specify SID = * if you want Oracle Database to change the value of the parameter for all instances that do not already have an explicit setting for this parameter.
Disabling Logging Open the navigation menu and click Developer Services. Under DevOps, click Projects. On the DevOps Projects page, click the project for which you want to disable logging. Under DevOps Project Resources, click Logs. Click the Enable Log switch to disable logging. Confirm the disabling when prompted.
Shut down the database. SHUTDOWN. Copy the redo log files to the new location. Operating system files, such as redo log members, must be copied using the appropriate operating system commands. Startup the database, mount, but do not open it. Rename the redo log members. Open the database for normal operation.
