i think i was wearing this shirt in the last video i thought a lot about todays topic well i normally think a lot about the topic but this week i thought about it a little more last week we talked about flat versus round characters and this week i was thinking of following up with a conversation about static and dynamic characters which is a related but different topic but i thought about that topic and there didnt seem to be that much about static and dynamic characters that wasnt already out there its something thats fairly easy to define and it just didnt seem like that interesting of a video you could also argue that flat versus round characters arent that interesting of a video but i digress instead of a general discussion about static and dynamic characters i want to talk about one particular aspect of dynamic characters their dynamicness or more specifically their ability to change and how to write that change well reading about a character who changes profoundly over the

The most common way to do this is to head the chapter with the name of the character being profiled. Line break. If you dont want whole chapters dedicated to a single character, you can use a line break (three blank lines) in your chapter to signify a switch between POV characters.
Two: When you change perspectives, you must make sure the reader knows which character shes viewing the story throughnot just sometimes, but all the time. Changing perspective at chapter or section breaks can help with this clarity, but it is possible to change within paragraphs and still maintain clarity.
For example, they may change from being a warrior to a healer. A trait or set of traits they possess. For example, they may change from being disappointed to being determined.
5. Third-person POV is compatible with first-person POV. Even if youre writing from a third-person perspective, you can still inject the first-person narrative when a character is speaking (which may later be contradicted by a different characters perspective).
But writing believable character change can be hard.5 Steps to Write Believable Change Step One: Establish a Constant Variable. Step Two: Form Your Character. Step Three: Let Your Character Storm. Step Four: Find Your Characters New Norm. Step Five: Give Your Evolved Character the Chance to Perform.
There are countless ways a character can change throughout the course of a story, but their character arc can typically be categorized into one of three types: positive, negative, or flat.
