So no, renewing a cert doesnt revoke the old one, and you shouldnt revoke the old one--just let it expire. Only revoke a cert if you suspect its private key has been compromised.
Answer: Yes. Best practices are to generate a new certificate signing request (CSR) when reissuing your SSL/TLS certificate. Generating a new CSR creates a new, unique key pair (public/private) for the reissued certificate.
Select SSL Certificates and select Manage for the certificate you want to rekey. Select Rekey your certificate. In the Certificate Signing Request (CSR) field, paste your new CSR, including ----BEGIN NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST---- and ----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST----, and then select Add Change. Select Submit All Changes.
In order to reissue an SSL certificate, you must either locate the original CSR saved on your server or make a new one (recommended), log into your control panel and re-submit it to the Certificate Authority (CA). Some certificates may require you to re-complete a step of the validation process as well.
From the SSL Table After logging into your account, select SSL Certificates from the left navigation menu. Click on the three dot icon to the far right of the certificate you want to regenerate. Select Regenerate from the drop down menu. Complete the appropriate steps to validate your domain name.
Open the Certificate Authority console on the server where the certificate was issued. Locate the expired certificate in the Issued Certificates folder. Right-click on the certificate and select Renew Certificate with Same Key.
When your current certificate is about to expire, a Renewal is required. A Revoke Replace (Reissue) is when you cancel a current, valid certificate and request a new one.
Steps to Renew an Expired SSL/TLS Certificate: An Easy 4 Step Process Produce a New CSR (Certificate Signing Request) Code. Select an SSL Certificate. Validate Renewal SSL. the SSL Certificate on Your Server.
