In this tutorial, Chip Wood demonstrates how to redact or highlight a PDF using Preview on a Mac. To open a PDF, ctrl-click and select Preview, or double-click if it’s the default viewer. Start by showing the markup toolbar, where you can adjust fonts, fill colors, borders, and line thickness. Select the square shape to create a box around text, adjusting its size and border as needed. To highlight text, simply click outside the box. To redact, double-click the box, choose a black fill color, and eliminate the border. Adjust the box using handles for precision. For a more subtle redaction, change the fill color to white, effectively masking the text. Images can also be redacted easily.
