you can use Excel to fix some of the common issues that arise with lists of postal codes so letamp;#39;s say youamp;#39;ve got a list of inconsistently formatted postal codes like this one appearing in column B and you want to transform that list into a list of consistently formatted five digit postal codes Iamp;#39;ll show you some tricks on how you can do that when I first click in cell c3 and Iamp;#39;m going to type a formula equals left open parenthesis and then for text Iamp;#39;m gonna reference the contents of cell b3 so the first postal code in column B and then for number of characters Iamp;#39;m going to enter 5 and hit enter and what this formula told Excel to do was return the 5 leftmost characters from cell b3 and so clearly we only have 4 characters appearing here and so we only got 4 characters back but what I suspect is that thereamp;#39;s a leading 0 thatamp;#39;s hiding I suspect this is really postal code 0 9 8 4 3 we just donamp;#39;t see that here so more

The last 4 digits of these 9-digit ZIP Codes usually represent 6-20 delivery points on a USPS carrier route. ZIP Plus 4 Codes help to prevent misdelivered, lost, delayed, and returned mail. Including those last 4 digits of the ZIP Code can reduce delivery time by as much as 2 days.
The correct format for a numeric ZIP+4 code is five digits, a hyphen, and four digits. The first five digits represent the 5-digit ZIP Code; the sixth and seventh digits (the first two after the hyphen) identify an area known as a sector; the eighth and ninth digits identify a smaller area known as a segment.
Enter your zip code, entering five digits in the first Zip Code field, and either zero or four digits in the second field.
Use upper-case letters. Omit all punctuation. Include floor, suite and apartment numbers whenever possible. Put the city, state and ZIP Code or ZIP + 4 code in that order on the last line.
It is preferred that all City, State, and ZIP Code information be on a single line. If that is not possible, the ZIP Code, including the ZIP+4 Code, may be placed below the city/state information.
The US address format includes the name of the recipient in the first line when shipping to the US. This is followed by the street (house number and street name). After this, youll write the city, along with the two-letter abbreviation for the state and the appropriate zip code. The last part is the country name.
The most common cause of this problem is an old zip code assigned to the card itself. Even though you have updated your address with the bank, they may not sync your new address to the credit/debit card. Try the old/outdated postal code(s) on the payment, and it will likely go through.
It is preferred that all City, State, and ZIP Code information be on a single line. If that is not possible, the ZIP Code, including the ZIP+4 Code, may be placed below the city/state information. However, when compressing line #11, do not remove the hyphen between the ZIP Code and the ZIP+4 add-on code.
