A performance criterion is written as a statement indicating that some percentage of students will perform at or above a certain level on the measure. Examples: 80% or more of students will earn a level of mastery or higher on the final exam.
A rubric is based on a set of criteria and includes a description of performance levels ing to a fixed scale (e.g., 4-points). Lets examine three types of rubrics. A holistic rubric provides an overall rating of a students performance, typically yielding a single score.
Typically, teachers consider three factors when they assign grades: Achievement (i.e., how the student is performing in relation to expected grade-level goals) Growth (i.e., the amount of individual improvement over time) Habits (e.g., participation, behavior, effort, attendance)
Seven evaluative criteria were supplied for performance test tasks: (1) generalizability, (2) authenticity, (3) multiple foci, (4) teachability, (5) fairness, (6) feasibility, and (7) scorability.
Information about student learning can be assessed through both direct and indirect measures. Direct measures may include homework, quizzes, exams, reports, essays, research projects, case study analysis, and rubrics for oral and other performances.
How to write an effective performance evaluation comment Review past and present performance. If you only do formal reviews once a year, its easy to provide feedback only for things that are fresh in your mind. Be honest and clear. Provide concrete examples. Choose your words carefully. End on a positive note.
I appreciate your honesty and your constructive advice with regard to improving my time management skills. I agree that consistently meeting deadlines is critical to the success of the organization, and I will take a proactive approach to improving myself in this key area.
Describe specific behaviors and concrete examples in your evaluation. Discuss midpoint feedback using competency-based language. Build upon your midpoint feedback in your written evaluation and comment on student achievement of the expectations you discussed.
