Since we already measured the length of the choruses last time, we already knew that the verses have usually the same length in terms of the number of bars, and in terms of the number of seconds. Usually, verses are 16 bars and about 20 24 seconds.
The most common sections are: Verse or A Section: A songs verse is generally a recurring section usually 16 or 32 bars in lengththat serves as the main body of the song.
The term raw in music can have several different meanings. Raw audio format - uncompressed and without header information. Unplugged acoustic jams. Raw voice - unrefined.
In many songs, each verse brings the story forward, and the chorus is often the same words repeated. Verses are typically 8 or 16 bars long (although not a rule). A relatively common practice is to have the first two verses longer than the last one. For example 16 bars for verse 1 and 2 and 8 bars for verse 3.
Most of the most popular choruses in history were 30-60 seconds long. This length ensures that the chorus isnt too long but is long enough to be memorable. Put a hook in the chorus to make it more catchy. A hook is 1 or 2 lines from your song that are memorable and catchy.
For example, in the song Everybody by the Backstreet Boys, the first verse starts as Oh my God were back again/brother, sisters everybody sing. The second verse starts as, Now throw your hands up in the air/And wave em around like you just dont care. Both verses have the same melody but different lyrics.
In pop music, verses are often relatively short, typically ranging from 4 to 8 lines or around 20 to 40 seconds in length. Pop songs prioritize concise storytelling and catchy melodies to maintain listener engagement throughout the track.
