How To Typeset Paragraphs Use a serif font, not a sans-serif or novelty font. Use a font size of 10-12 points. Confirm that your lines are 45-90 characters wide. Paragraphs should be justified, not left-aligned. The first sentence of each paragraph should be indented by the width of a few letters.
Yes, most text editors and word processors support overtype mode. You can usually toggle it on and off by pressing the Insert key on your keyboard. When active, the cursor shape might change, indicating that youre in overtype mode.
If you press the Insert key or Ins (located to the right of the Backspace key) once; you can change your computer to Overtype mode. When your computer is in Overtype mode, the text you type replaces any existing text to the right of the insertion point and erases it.
Apply styles Select the text you want to format. Tip: If you place your cursor in a paragraph, the style is applied to the whole paragraph. On the Home tab, point to a style to preview it. Select a style.
The insert key on your keyboard can toggle overtype on and off which applies it to various programs on your computer. Toggle the insert key back, your typing should work functioning.

Turn on Overtype mode In the Word Options dialog box, choose Advanced. Under Editing options, do one of the following: To use Insert key to control Overtype mode, select the Use Insert key to control overtype check box. To keep Overtype mode enabled always, select the Use overtype mode check box.
