Auto Color starts off the same as Auto Tone in that it splits up the colours and sets the darkest pixel to black and the lightest pixel to white, but rather than redistributing that remainder, it makes an attempt at getting the colours right rather than just spreading it all out.
With an image open, click Enhance Auto Smart Tone. A default tonal correction is applied automatically. Move the joystick control that appears on the image, to fine-tune the resulting image.
Auto Color adjusts the contrast and color of an image by searching the image to identify shadows, midtones, and highlights. By default, Auto Color neutralizes the midtones using a target color of RGB 128 gray and clips the shadows and highlight pixels by 0.5%.
Select the Red, Yellow, or Blue color channels in the drop-down menu in the Selective Color panel, and then adjust one or more of the four sliders. Play with subtle slider movements until you see the skin tones you want in your image.
Double-click the clipping mask (the curve icon) in the Layers panel to open the Properties window. Open Auto Color Corrections. Option+click (Mac) or Alt+click (Windows) the Auto button to open the Auto Color Correction Options.
