Create a TIN On the Analysis tab, click the Tools button . The Geoprocessing pane appears. Type Create TIN in the search box, and press Enter to search for the tool. Double-click Create TIN to open the tool. Specify the parameters and click Run to build the TIN surface.
To import, click on the TIN Surface button on the side toolbar. Next youll have the option to import either from a LandXML Surface or from a simple X, Y, Z Point file. The status bar at the bottom of your screen will display the Surface Name as well as the TINs elevation at the X, Y location of your mouse.
Triangular irregular networks (TIN) have been used by the GIS community for many years and are a digital means to represent surface morphology. TINs are a form of vector-based digital geographic data and are constructed by triangulating a set of vertices (points).
Creating data in XML format Open an XML or text editor. In the first line of your file, add the following code to define your file as an XML file: After the line that defines your file as an XML file, specify an element for the business object type that you are loading information about.
TIN stands for triangulated irregular network. This kind of surface is made up of non-overlapping triangles. Each of the triangles represents a face on the surface.
Open an XML data file to import its data Click File Open. In the Open dialog box, click the drive, folder, or Internet location that has the file that you want to open. Select the file and click Open.
To import the TIN file, the accompanying PNT point file must exist in the same source directory. Click Home tab Create Ground Data panel Surfaces drop-down Create Surface From TIN . In the Create Surface From TIN dialog box, browse to the location of the TIN file and select it.
