There are 2 kinds of Microsoft word documents. DOCX (documents that cant run macros), and DOCM (documents that can run macros.)
doc file which contains macros. Navigate to File Save As Browse which will open the below window. Make sure you are in the right path to save the workbook Choose Word Marco-enabled Document (*. docm) as shown below and select Save.
DOCX files are compatible with newer versions of Microsoft Word, and can also be opened by other applications like Google Docs or LibreOffice, but may lose some features or formatting. DOCX files are also smaller, safer, and more flexible than DOC files, as they can support more elements like images, charts, or macros.
. docx An ordinary document containing no macros. . docm A document that either contains macros or is macro enabled.
A file with the DOCM file extension is a Microsoft Word macro-enabled document. Introduced in Office 2007, they are like DOCX files in that they can also store formatted text, images, shapes, charts, etc., but theyre different because they can execute macros to automate tasks in Word.
DOCX is the new standard format for Microsoft Word documents. Introduced from 2007 with the release of Microsoft Office 2007, the structure of this new Document format was changed from plain binary to a combination of XML and binary files.
A DOCM file is a Microsoft Word macro-enabled document. Open one with MS Word, or for free with Google Docs or OpenOffice Writer. Convert to DOCX, PDF, etc. with those same programs.
With the docx/docm format, only the docm form supports macros (the m means macro-enabled). If you save such a document in the docx form, the macro will be deleted. You could also save the document in the Word 97-2003 . doc format, if the later document formats features dont matter.
