The IRS says to put your Social Security number on the memo line of a check when sending in a payment.
What to Do if You Were Scammed Do not blame yourself. Stop contact with the scammer. Notify the three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to add a fraud alert to your credit report. Protect your Social Security Number. Request a replacement SSN card or new SSN, if necessary.
Your application will be forwarded to the Social Security Administration for processing which could take up to 4 months. Once the process has been completed, the Social Security Card will be mailed to the address you listed on the application, so please write it out in clear handwriting and as accurate as possible.
You should receive your SSN card no later than 7 business days after you receive your EAD from USCIS. Please call or visit an SSA office if you do not receive your SSN card within 7 business days after receiving your EAD.
Call the SSA office at 1-800-772-1213 to check your applications status. If you received your EAD but have waited longer than 7 business days for your SSN and card, call the Social Security Administration to ask whats going on.
You should receive your SSN card no later than 7 business days after you receive your EAD from USCIS. Please call or visit an SSA office if you do not receive your SSN card within 7 business days after receiving your EAD. Please bring this flyer and your EAD as it may help us answer your questions.
If you think someone may be using your SSN to work, check your Social Security Personal Earnings and Benefit Statement. You can get a copy by calling 1-800-772-1213, or online at .ssa.gov/online/ssa-7004.pdf.
After any I-765 is approved, your EAD card should be produced within two weeks. Your EAD card will be mailed via U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail. Please ensure you have the correct mailing address on file with USCIS.
