Creating an RTF template file consists of two basic steps: Design your template layout. Use the formatting features of your word processing application and save the file as RTF. Mark up your template layout. Insert the BI Publisher simplified tags.
RTF stands for Rich Text Format and is a universal document file format and is easily read by many of the word-processing packages. It is particularly useful to those using a different word-processing package from those used on campus.
It can be exploited by an attacker by sending a malicious email or uploading file containing RTF payload and enticing the user to open the file. When the victim opens the malicious file, the attacker gains access to execute arbitrary code within the application used to open the file.
RTF documents with extensive formatting, graphics, or complex structures can sometimes become unwieldy. Opening, editing, or processing such large RTF files may lead to performance issues. Not ideal for data interchange.
To modify an RTF template: If you are editing an existing layout: Select your report in the business intelligence catalog and click Edit. Open the downloaded RTF template file in Microsoft Word. Load the sample data that you generated. Edit or create the layout template. Save the file as Rich Text Format (RTF).
RTF - Rich text format files are universal text file formats that are more advanced than standard text files, capable of storing extra information and types of data. . TXT - One of the most compatible and basic text file formats, . TXT documents are used to create simple text documents with little to no formatting.
The RTF file can also include groups for fonts, styles, screen color, pictures, footnotes, comments (annotations), headers and footers, summary information, fields, and bookmarks, as well as document-, section-, paragraph-, and character-formatting properties.
Working with the RTF Layout Open the RTF layout in Word, and on the BI toolbar click Sample XML in the Load Data, browse to the XML you saved and click ok. Make changes to your layout and Save. Best practice is to rename the layout using the date of change.
