Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Masking requirements is part of privacy by design requirements. PII functionality is to restrict unauthorized access by the users to personal information of customer by masking the PII information.
For the purposes of this article, we define personally identifiable information as any real details of human lives or status, which could be used to identify or impersonate that person. Common examples of PII are dates of birth, IP addresses, passport numbers, or full names.
You can mask the data in the XML format payloads using the tag in the log policy XML file. This table explains the field names for masking the data in an XML payload. Specifies the XPath for the field. The value of this field is masked.
Deterministic data masking ensures that the same input value is consistently masked to the same output value. For instance, if a particular name is masked as John in one instance, it will always be masked as John throughout the system.
