What should your settings be for wedding photography? Huge question, right? Were going to dive into that in just a second. Welcome back to another Quick Tip Tuesday. Im Josiah blizzard and on this channel, we talk about wedding photography tips and I share behind the scenes on wedding and engagements and a question I get a lot on those behind the scenes videos is, what are your settings? And so Im going to break down my settings for you guys today Im going to try and keep this as simple and as brief as possible, but I pretty much separate this into three groups, right. Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. And my main goal for each is to keep my aperture as wide open as possible, my shutter speed fast enough to avoid blurring, and my ISO as low as I can to avoid noise. So lets dive into this. The first thing that I set is my aperture. I want to make sure that I am shooting as wide open as I can because I really, really like blurry backgrounds, right. However, the good news is that the photos usually arent taken all at once, and the time is broken up throughout your day. Most photographers say you need about 30 minutes for wedding party portraits, 30 minutes for family portraits (close family only), and 45 minutes for couple portraits.
Broadly speaking, wedding photographers typically deliver 50-100 photos for every hour of coverage they provide.
Most couples end up with an album around 30-40 spreads (60-80 pages) accommodating anywhere from 150-300 photos.
On average, most couples can expect to receive around 800-1500 photos from their wedding day. However, if you have a larger wedding or more hours coverage, you may receive more photos. And if you have a smaller wedding or less coverage, you may receive fewer photos.
As a general rule, you can expect to receive between 50 and 100 photos per hour of shooting time. But theres no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Of course, this depends on various factors such as the type of shoot, how many people are involved, and what you want to achieve.
While roughly 90% of couples choose to take their photos before the ceremony, there are still some who want to be traditional and not let the groom see the bride until she is walking down the aisle.
So the best way to deal with organizing the images is to break them into smaller categories and then work with one folder at a time. We recommend doing this in the same order the wedding took place. Going by the folders chronologically ensures you do not miss out on any special photography moments.
Ordinary number of pictures delivered by hours To give you an idea, the average number of pictures delivered by a wedding photographer for one hour is between 50 up to 100 wedding photos. Most of the time I will deliver 800 to 1000 digital files for 12-hour reportage.
