A pattern file is a text file that contains definitions for model patterns or drafting patterns. The file must be saved with a PAT extension.
A print is a pattern which is not woven into the fabric but applied to the top with dye by various methods such as digital printing or screen printing. If you can no longer see the pattern when you flip the fabric over to the backside, it is most likely a print.
One way is to attach them to hangers, which can be especially helpful if you have limited storage space. Another option is to use plastic bags to keep all the small pieces together and then hang them up. Lastly, you can also store them in your closet by using a filing system or hanging them on hooks.
