Laser printers use toner powder which doesnt dry out the same way an ink cartridge does. Unlike an inkjet cartridge, which is liquid-based, toner is composed of plastic components. Its already dry, so it wont dry out further. When stored properly, a sealed printer toner cartridge can technically last for years.
Not to mention, most laser printers also work well with refilled cartridges. Availability More often than not, this pops up as an issue when you are least expecting it. Buying a brand new cartridge may sound easier but the cartridge that you use could be out of stock or simply not available anymore.
Laser printers, unlike inkjet printers, do not use ink cartridges. Instead laser printers use toner cartridges, so be sure to purchase ingly depending on your printer. Toner is a fine dye power that is melted onto the paper.
We get this question from many first-time printer buyers. The short answer is YES! Most printers do include cartridges in the box with your printer, but it is important to note, the majority of cartridges that are included are starter cartridges. Starter cartridges are intended to get your printer up and running.
Quick Steps Open the ink tray underneath the center lid and above the output tray. Press down on the old cartridges until it clicks, and then remove it. Remove the new cartridge from its packaging. Insert the new cartridge with the ink nozzle facing away from you.
While ink is standard in most conventional inkjet home printers, laser printers depend on toner and lasers for their output. Given that theyre based on their own unique technology, youll find that they also have their own unique advantages and disadvantages.
