Is pen ink toxic for skin? Does pen ink cause skin cancer? Pen ink is considered non-toxic on the skin, but may stain it. Pressing the point of the pen into your skin could result in an infection.
Ink is minimally toxic and can cause a mild upset stomach or stained skin/tongue if ingested. Avoid harsh scrubbing or chemical cleaners on the skin. Any stains should wear off in several days. Computer printer cartridges and stamp-pad inks usually contain a larger amount of ink and/or additional ingredients.
Tattoo ink can cause allergic skin reactions, such as an itchy rash at the tattoo site. This can happen even years after getting a tattoo. Red ink tends to be more prone to allergic reactions that other tattoo ink colors. Skin infections.
The ink that isnt taken away by the white blood cells (macrophages), then remains in the dermis within trapped white blood cells and becomes absorbed by skin cells known as fibroblasts. The dye in the ink of the cells is what shows through and what keeps it settled in and permanent.
The chemicals in the pen can cause skin irritation, ink poisoning, and increase the risk of infection. Instead, we recommend using safer alternatives to express yourself, such as non-toxic markers or temporary tattoos.
Wet a cotton ball or washcloth with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol or surgical spirit) and scrub the ink off your skin. Rubbing alcohol is often your best bet for removing the oil-based ink found in most pens.
