so um weamp;#39;re just going to pass around a an artifact Iamp;#39;ll explain that in a minute okay so um letamp;#39;s see itamp;#39;s 2015 so three years ago or two and a half years ago um I was a meeting with uh Bob glushko whoamp;#39;s a Adjunct professor at UC Berkeley and he was he had he had been working on a putting together a book for the past three years he had gathered all his notes he was ready to get going he had several chapters together and he showed me one of them and um being being an editor being an author and editor for many years I looked at it and sat down with a pen and started editing I handed it to him in the morning and he said wow thatamp;#39;s great would you like to be my editor and I said yeah but only if I get to do it my way if Iamp;#39;m going to produce a book Iamp;#39;m going to produce a real book Iamp;#39;m not going to produce something thatamp;#39;s you know well most of the books that you see on the market today I want to I want to do it

What is DocBook used for?

DocBook files are used to prepare output files in a wide variety of formats. Nearly always, this is accomplished using DocBook XSL stylesheets. These are XSLT stylesheets that transform DocBook documents into a number of formats (HTML, XSL-FO for later conversion into PDF, etc.).

The main difference between DITA and DocBook is the way they organize content. DITA is designed to create topic-based documentation, while DocBook is designed to create structured documents. Topic-based documentation means each content can stand alone and be reused in different documents.
