Sign The Back Of The Check Once youve confirmed the details on the check and who needs to endorse it, its time to sign the back of the check. Typically, youll find a box at the top of the check that reads Endorse Here. There are often three signature lines inside the box.
A signature is an endorsement. For example, when an employer issues a payroll check, it authorizes or endorses the transfer of money from the business account to the employee. The act of signing the check is considered an endorsement, which serves as proof of the payers intent to transfer funds to the payee.
You can endorse a check made out to you to someone else. To do this, you sign your name as you would to receive the funds your self. Then, under your signature, write Pay to the order of and then the name of the person to whom youd like to endorse your check. Be sure to write clearly.
These are some steps you can follow to write a letter of endorsement: Format and address the endorsement letter. Include your current contact information. Identify the person youre endorsing. Explain who you are and your relationship. Provide details of their positive characteristics.
You do a blank endorsement by simply signing your name on the back of the check. Then, when youre at the bank, you tell the teller if you want to cash it or deposit it. People will also do a blank endorsement when theyre depositing a check through an ATM or using mobile deposit.
