The tag defines an unordered (bulleted) list. Use the tag together with the tag to create unordered lists. Tip: Use CSS to style lists. Tip: For ordered lists, use the tag.
The dot (.) selector targets elements by class, while the hash (#) selector targets elements by id.
In HTML, you can use the entity to represent a bullet point. For example, if youre writing an HTML document, you can insert a bullet point like this: #8226; This is a bullet point .
The Unicode character for showing the dot symbol or bullet point is U+2022 . But to use this Unicode correctly, remove the U+ and replace it with ampersand ( ), pound sign ( # ), and x . Then type the 2022 number in, and then add a semi-colon. So, it becomes #x2022; .
. in CSS means it is a class and it can be applied to many elements. # in CSS means it is an ID and it can be applied to one element per page. Without the either, it is a tag, targets all the elements with the tag name.
Neither CSS nor HTML have variables, you are looking at selectors. The dot prefix indicates that it is a class selector and will match an HTML element which is a member of the given class.
You can type a period. That is a dot. Or do you mean a dot like this: , which is a middle dot? Well, on my Windows machine, I typed Alt+0183, which I learned from Character Map.
A dot within a CSS selector would actually be used to match an item that has both classes, for example: . counter-action. decrement {}
Middle Dot UNICODE. U+000B7. HEX CODE. #xb7; HTML CODE. #183; HTML ENTITY. middot; CSS CODE. \00B7. // html example. #183; // css example. span { content: \00B7; }
So the rightmost component of a domain name is the top of the hierarchy. Putting a dot to the far right of a domain name makes it absolute, meaning that its explicitly rooted at the top of the DNS hierarchy. In essence, its the same as using a full distinguished name instead of a common name in an X.
