Create a hanging indent Select the text where you want to add a hanging indent. Go to Home Paragraph dialog launcher Indents and Spacing. Under Special, select Hanging. You can adjust the depth of the indent using the By field. Select OK.

Click the drop down menu under Special. Enter the indent size. Click OK to save your changes and apply them to the document.
Open the document with the problem in Microsoft Word. Select all paragraphs with indentation issues. Right-click on one of the selected paragraphs and choose Paragraph. Go to Indentation and set values for Before and Special. Make sure these settings are consistent.
