hey everybody my name is Tristan Bach and Iamp;#39;m just making a quick rough video of how to fix this problem you might be having when youamp;#39;re trying to compress a file so this is the file Iamp;#39;m trying to compress Iamp;#39;ll right click it click compress to zip file and an error pops up that the file some of the contents of the folder include special characters that cannot be compressed and so to show you if I go into it and hover over this one um to the far right you can see base and then has those weird characters near the end so those are the characters Iamp;#39;ve tried fixing Iamp;#39;ve tried renaming it everything nothing seems to work itamp;#39;s like the metadata of it um you just canamp;#39;t change it at least as far as what I know so this is the solution to that and itamp;#39;s to use 7-Zip so Iamp;#39;ll put a link in this description but basically if you go to Google type in 7-Zip itamp;#39;ll bring you here and then you download whichever version

The latest ZIP format specification supports Unicode file names. Names must be encoded in UTF-8, and the 11th bit in the general purpose flags field (2 bytes at offset 6) must be set. So if you upgrade your tools to versions supporting the newer ZIP format, things should work automatically.
The ZIP file standard historically did not specify a metadata encoding, but strongly recommended CP437 (the original IBM PC encoding) for interoperability. Recent versions allow use of UTF-8 (only). In this module, UTF-8 will automatically be used to write the member names if they contain any non-ASCII characters.
Therefore, a compressed file is also binary. You can run a hexdump program from the command line to see what the binary contents of any file are (in base 16).
zip file using cut/copy and paste or dragging and dropping, just as you would with an ordinary file or folder. If you want to extract all the files in a . zip file, right click on the zip file and choose Extract All. This will open a wizard to guide you through the next steps.
Right-click on the file or folder. Move your cursor over the Send to option. This will open a new submenu. Select Compressed (zipped) folder. To place multiple files into a zip folder, select all of the files while hitting the Ctrl button.
UTF-8 encodes Unicode characters into a sequence of 8-bit bytes. The standard has a capacity for over a million distinct codepoints and is a superset of all characters in widespread use today. By comparison, ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) includes 128 character codes.
The general rule of thumb is if you can view the file in a text editor like notepad (ie. .html, . js, . css files etc) you should upload in ASCII mode, most others (including images, sound files, video, zip files, executables etc) should be uploaded in Binary.
Do not use any of these common illegal characters or symbols in your filenames or folders: # pound. % percent. ampersand. { left curly bracket. } right curly bracket. \ back slash. left angle bracket. right angle bracket.
